Aqueduct: Race 4

- (5) Sagamore Mischief 15-1

Lat race 36 days ago a convincing win by 6 1/2 lengths. Today trying 1 1/8 mile for the first time and moving up 2 classes. However, this 8 year old gelding has by far the best closing fractions and will have a lot of speed up front to run at. He likes this track (5/13 WPS), is well rested, worked 3 times since last race, and G. Rodriguez has won 2 out of 5 races when moving his horses up 2 classes.

Result: Finished 3rd: $8.90

Aqueduct: Race 1

- (1) Miles And Miles 5-1

Last race over 3 months ago, very decent. Has worked 4 times over the last 42 days. Judging by the last race, this 3 year old colt is much faster than any in here by a significant margin. Today going a bit longer, adds blinkers and first time lasix, should win this on the lead.

Result: Won: $7.70 - $4.80 - $3.50

Tampa Bay: Race 6

- (3) Delta Charm 30-1

Last race 34 days ago, same track, distance, and surface, finished 5th. Went extremely fast in that race, 21.9 - 45.3, but still had a decent closing faction. Has 3 unsuccesful tries at Tampa Bay but loves this distance (5/8 WP), nice 4F workout 7 days ago - 48.0, dropping in class (R. Smith 37.5% with horses dropping in class), and is a strong contender here. However, needs to rate better to win this one.

Result: Finished 5th

Tampa Bay: Race 3

- (9) Final Note 8-1

Last race 17 days ago here, really good up until the stretch, then faltered to finish 3rd, more than 8 lengths behind the winner. Has the best early speed as well as the best closing fractions, but is 0 for 5 at this distance. With a nice 2 week rest, speed to spare, cutback in distance from a really good race, should finally score today.

Result: Finished 5th

Oaklawn: Race 9

- (2) Farley Hall 12-1

Last race 22 days ago here at same distance, nice effort, finished 3rd, less than 2 lengths behind the winner. Today, going same distance where this 3 year old gelding has had success (3/3 WPS). Also has a bullet workout just 4 days ago (3F - 35.4). The only horse here that has shown the ability to go under 46.0 for the first 4F, and with no real closing speed, can hold on for the win. With tons of early speed, I believe the plan is to go to the lead, hopefully rate well, and have enough to hold off the average closers.

Oaklawn: Race 4

- (11) Royal Blush 20-1

Last race a month ago at 1 mile here, a fair effort, showing early speed and faltering at the end. Has 2 workouts since that race, a really nice one 6 days ago at 3F - 35.2. Today, cutting back to 6F where she has a 3rd place finish in three attempts. Has tactical speed, is conditioned, fast workouts - should play a major role.

Result: Finished 6th

Santa Anita: Race 5

- (7) Chamaville 15-1

Last race a decent effort 25 days ago at 1 mile on turf. Today, going 6F on dirt, where this filly has done well (two wins, one place out of 5 attempts). Over the course of the last 3 races, has shown the ability to go sub 46.0 for the first 4 furlongs as well as sub 36.0 in the last 3 furlongs. Second race off a layoff, has tactical speed, should be a major factor.

Result: Finished 5th

Aqueduct: Race 8

- (10) Ridgewood Runner 20-1

Last race 3 weeks ago a very solid effort at 6F, finishing second. Today going a furlong longer, but loves the distance (4/6 WPS) with 2 wins, and has done very well at the track (8/10 WPS). Has plenty of early speed and closing fractions better or same as any in here. Also, has a really nice workout a week ago at 3F, 37.0. If he can get a clean break, and not get into a speed duel with (7) Gun It, has a really good chance at an upset. Downside - PP #10.

Result: Won: $39.20 - $20.40 - $12.40

 

Santa Anita: Race 9

- (2) Excelerina 10-1

Last race 34 days ago at a mile, showed early speed, faltered to finish fith, 18 lengths behind, most likely a prep race for this. Today, trying 6.5F for the first time. Likes the track (3/4 WPS) and turf (5/9 WPS). Has three workouts since last race, a really nice 5F 7 days ago, 59.8. Loaded with speed, great post position, fresh, conditioned, has a great chance to go gate-to-wire.

Result: Finished 10th

Aqueduct: Race 8

- (5) Giant At Work 12-1

Last race here 41 days ago at a mile, finished 3rd. In the last race set very fast fractions, 22.8 - 45.9, unmatched by any other horse in this race. Has three 4F works since that race, adding lasix, and the cut back in distance should be enough for a gate-to-wire victory.

Result: Finished 2nd: $5.10 - $3.40

Tampa Bay: Race 8

- (2) Flamingproposition 20-1

Last race 29 days ago, going 1/2F longer, deceivingly good effort. finished 5th, but was less than a length behind at the top of the stretch. Today, cutting back to a mile, (1W-1S). Has plenty of speed to go gate-to-wire, but can sit off the pace as well. Second time lasix today, plenty of speed, and conditioning from last race, gives this 3 year old gelding a great chance for an upset.

Result: Finished 3rd: $12.00
